Earn College Credits
Earn college credit for your programming and activities! Oranim partners with Ono Academic College to provide our participants with college credits. Ono College is a fully accredited institution of higher learning, serving 9,000 undergraduate and graduate students.
The following courses are offered for credit:
Hebrew Language: 6 credits
Volunteering - Social Justice: 4 credits
Field Study of Israeli History (touring): 4 credits
In order to receive credits for these mandatory programming components, you will be expected to write at least one term paper for each class, and pay a tuition supplement of $180 per credit.
Volunteering: Social Justice in Israeli Society
This course will closely examine the question, “How is social change accomplished, and what role can I play to make change in Israeli society?” The core of the course will take place outside the classroom, as students engage in various service projects and volunteer positions. Course requirements include out-of-classroom volunteer service and a project.
Hebrew Language
An elementary or intermediate-level course in modern Israeli Hebrew. Students will learn to read and write Hebrew, including core vocabulary, grammar, oral and written conversation. Course will include excerpts from modern Hebrew prose, poetry and song. Focus is placed on developing basic conversational Hebrew skills. Course requirements include period exams.
Tiyulim: History and Geography of Israel: State, Land & People
This course will explore the history of the Zionist movement, the foundation of a Jewish-Zionist society in Israel, pre-state (biblical to modern) history of the land, minority populations and other issues relevant to the contemporary land, people and state. Course work will take place via weekly enrichment sessions, and frequent excursions to relevant historical and modern sites for learning in the field.
