- What is the application deadline?
NYU-Poly has rolling admissions; we recommend that you apply at least 2 months prior to the program start-date, but you can apply at any time.
- How do I apply?
Beginning the application process is simple. Start by completing the Preliminary Application form. Upon completion of the phone interview, you will be asked to begin your application for admission to NYU-Poly and to make a program deposit.
- Who can join the program?
College Graduates, with mother-tongue level English.
- Must I be Jewish in order to join the program?
No - Master's in Israel is open to all English-fluent, college graduates. However, there is a significant Jewish cultural component to the Master's in Israel program - this includes seminars and lectures on Jewish and Israeli history, Shabbat and holiday celebration, Hebrew study and travel.
- In what language is the program instructed?
The program is conducted in English. All participants must have mother-tongue level English in order to take part in all activities.
- How many hours will I study?
You will study approximately 9 � 12 hours per week at NYU-Poly. Israel Engagement Programming (Hebrew study, trips, volunteer service and lectures) will require approximately 10 hours per week.
- Can I have a job while on Master's in Israel?
If you are a recipient of a MASA grant, and/or on a MASA or tourist visa, you will not be permitted to work. You can, however, be placed in an unpaid professional internship to further advance your career.
- What are the visa requirements for Master�s in Israel?
Until very recently, all participants coming to Israel for a MASA sponsored program were required to come to Israel via a regular tourist visa (unless, of course, they had Israeli citizenship), which you receive upon arrival in the country. You are welcome to enter the country on a tourist visa, but you will be required to renew it every three months. Your second option is to apply for the new �MASA visa� at an Israeli consulate in your home country. This visa will cover the duration of the program.
- Can I learn Hebrew on Master's in Israel?
Absolutely! Our weekly schedule includes Ulpan (intensive Hebrew studies).
- Will I have any free time?
Most evenings and weekends you will have to yourself to relax, explore Tel Aviv-Yafo, and complete academic assignments.
- How much does the program cost?
The program cost varies based on age and country of residence. For a clear understanding of the cost of the program, please see the "Tuition & Scholarships" page.
- Is the cost of airfare included in the price?
No, you are responsible for purchasing your own airfare.
- How much money should I bring with me?
Program tuition does not cover for daily expenses such as food or social outings. Remember to bring sufficient funds to cover such things as well as toiletries and additional travel. On average, participants are spending between $250-500 a month varying based on their lifestyle. Keep in mind: Israel is not an inexpensive country and plan accordingly.
- How can I get a scholarship to participate in the program?
Master's in Israel is a recognized program of MASA Israel, and therefore, all program participants under the age of 31 automatically receive a grant. The amount of the grant varies based on certain criteria and can be seen on our Tuition & Scholarships page.

- Do I need health insurance while on the program?
All participants are required to purchase health insurance ($600 for the entire program).
- What computer facilities are there and can I bring a laptop?
Students in Master�s in Israel must come to the program with a laptop. Every room in our accommodations is equipped with wireless internet.
- Who is responsible for the group in Israel?
Master's in Israel is a project of Oranim Educational Initiatives. Approximately every 30 participants will have a group coordinator assigned to them. On trips, the group will also be accompanied by a licensed Tour Educator, as well as a medic/security guard when necessary.
- How can I rent a cell phone?
Oranim works with �Israel Phones� to offer participants the best rental rates possible while in Israel. In addition to superior rates, calls within the group are free! More information on ordering your phone can be found in the registration center.
- I am thinking about making Aliyah. Should I come on Master's in Israel program first?
Yes. Master's in Israel is a great beginning for someone who is considering Aliyah. You'll spend ten months living in Israel within an established community and already begin to feel part of Israel.
