Israel Engagement
In addition to your graduate coursework, Master's in Israel includes a comprehensive Israel engagement curriculum from Oranim Educational Initiatives, Israel’s premiere educational tourism provider. The Oranim Advantage features:
Ulpan-Style Hebrew Language Study
Study the language of Israel and achieve basic conversational fluency. In a matter of weeks you will be able to converse with new neighbors, order shwarma and begin to integrate into the vibrant cultural scene of Tel Aviv-Yafo.
Meaningful Volunteer Work
Engage in Tikkun Olam (Repairing the World) when you volunteer in Tel Aviv-Yafo communities, according to their needs and your talents. Volunteer coordinators work one-on-one with each participant to determine your passions and talents. After careful consideration and collaboration with community leaders, you'll be placed in a site with other participants doing something you love. Some volunteer opportunities include coaching sports, teaching English, leading after-school programming, working with seniors in eldercare, and assisting in animal shelters. By paying close attention to the individual desires of participants as well as the needs of the community, we provide the optimal environment in which you can succeed in your work, really get to know Israeli society and make an impact on its citizens.
Travel
Explore the cultural, national, religious and historical milieus of Israel on group excursions. With Master's in Israel you won't just visit sites, you will be touring Israel as part of a comprehensive curriculum which includes weekly lectures and programming - you will understand the historical, political and natural significance of the sites you visit so that you'll feel a connection to everything you see. Our trips are guided by the best educators and guides in Israel.
Lecture/Program Series
Learn about the history, culture, religion, politics and contemporary issues of the peoples of Israel in our lecture and interactive program series. You'll learn about holidays and trips in advance of participation, you'll dialogue on hot topics in Israeli politics and society in a pluralistic, open and honest frame, and you'll be introduced to the culture of your host home.
*Participation in Israel Engagement programming is mandatory for students who receive MASA grants and/or live in the group apartments.
