A Master's Degree in 10 Months?
from participant Ephraim Seif
Oranim 24 Master's in Israel, MSM Program, 2009-10:
On NYU-Poly academics:
I enjoyed each class, one better than the next. The professors are world class, with extensive real business experience. Most of them are currently or recently were consulting and/or working for major multinational corporations. Their personal accounts of their experiences contribute an invaluable element to the courses that cannot be gleaned from textual sources. The group projects also served as a great learning tool. Working in groups also allowed us to get to know our fellow 'Oranimites' on another dimension. My peers come from such diverse backgrounds and from all corners of the globe. The team projects not only served as a tool to learn the content of the course, but also to better understand and experience first-hand, cross-cultural values, work ethics, and behaviors. All of these are essential tools for managers in today's global economy.
On Oranim's Israel Engagement Activities:
I genuinely believe that the Oranim activities, enrichment sessions, Ulpan, educational outings, and tiyulim, greatly enhance the cultural, social, and even the academic portion of the program. The lecture on Israeli politics, our trip to "Dialogue in the Dark" and all our group meetings and tiyulim were all very worthwhile events that really complimented the program. From my perspective, and having experience as an event coordinator, I understand the monumental task of coordinating the flow of these activities and events and the program as a whole. The Oranim staff does a spectacular job at keeping everything running smoothly. Our Ulpan instructor Tova is the sweetest "Bubby" and I find her teaching method to be very effective. I am basic conversational in Hebrew in just eight sessions. In particular, our rakezet (coordinator) Kate Rosenberg is an absolute angel. I don't think I have ever met a more genuinely kindhearted and capable individual. Kate does an outstanding job and handles every situation exceptionally well with poise, valor and a smile.
In summary, the NYU-POLY/Oranim Master's in Israel Program has so far greatly exceeded my expectations and wish it continued success. I have many friends that I would strongly recommend this to. I can't wait until next semester. I never thought I'd be so excited about school!
Oh yeah, the accommodations in Tel Aviv are unbelievable! What a location!
