B/1 Work Visa (based on Proof of Judaism)

What is the B/1 Work Visa

The B-1 Work Visa is a temporary work permit issued by the Israeli government to foreign nationals. Your post Masa work visa is a one time visa and cannot be extended. You may however apply for a different B/1 Work Visa which is based on proof of Judaism. This visa is a year, with the option to extend for up to five years.

In order to be eligible for visa you must meet the following qualifications:

A valid passport for at least 12 months from the day you apply for the visa
Birth certificate (with apostile)
Criminal Background Check (Federal with finger prints for U.S applicants)
A letter from your local Rabbi confirming that you're Jewish

Please note that the information provided here has not been officially confirmed by the Ministry of Interior. It is based solely on the experiences of previous applicants. We strongly recommend that you visit the Ministry of Interior directly to confirm the exact document submission requirements, as the process can vary depending on your individual profile. If you are from a non-English-speaking country, the Ministry may require official documents to be translated into English or Hebrew.

This process can take time, so we suggest beginning it as early as possible. Once you formally submit your visa application, the Ministry will forward your documents to the Jewish Agency to verify your Jewish status. This verification typically takes 2–3 weeks. After approval, the Ministry will contact you to come in and have your visa issued.
